Troop 824 History

Troop 824 has a 42 year history of service to the youth and community of South St. Louis County. The troop was originally chartered by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Trautwein Elementary School, in the Mehlville School District. In December, 1966, Troop 824 became the newest troop in Grant District of the St. Louis Area Council.

Since then, over 500 scouts have been active members of the troop with 76 attaining the rank of Eagle. The troop has since moved its meetings to Washington Middle School, next door to Trautwein, and in February, 2003, the chartering organization was changed to the Washington Middle School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). This action was taken to better serve the scouts, as they were now coming from multiple elementary schools. Today the troop has 68 members and is now a part of the Gravois Trails District of the Greater St. Louis Area Council.
